About us
SOS Violence - The Israeli Center for Violence Studies, was established in 2004 in view of the rising of violence in the Israeli society in general, and among youth in particular. Our goals are to provide tools for coping with violence and for strengthening the social fabric in everyday life, for children, youth and adults, through education. SOS Center is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to train students, teachers and parents to deal nonviolently with violence. We strive to establish a fruitful cooperation among these three partners of the school community. Embedded in our work is the belief that violence cannot and should not be overcome by violence. It must be approached and dealt with by nonviolent means, otherwise it will escalate and perpetuate. The SOS Center was chosen by the “New Fund for Israel” and the “IVN Fund” from among hundreds of applicants as one of the four leading social start-ups in the years 2008 - 2010. |
